To help and encourage parents to talk effectively with their kids about not using tobacco products and avoiding other risky behaviors, we have provided funding to the Search Institute, a national non-profit and a leader in positive youth development, to develop and advertise ParentFurtherTM - an online resource for parents and other caring adults.

ParentFurther

Parents face many challenges in raising healthy, responsible kids who avoid risky behaviors, like tobacco use. Based on over 50 years of experience discovering what kids need to succeed, the Search Institute developed ParentFurther as a practical, user-friendly resource for parents and other caring adults. The website encourages proactive parenting with everyday tips and tools on a wide range of subjects, from family communication to preventing underage tobacco use and other risky behaviors.

In 2010, ParentFurther recorded more than 450,000 unique visitors in its first year – an increase over Search Institute’s goal of 250,000 unique visitors. By comparison, Search Institute’s predecessor website to ParentFurther, MVParents.com, achieved 120,000 unique visits in 2009.
